Progressive Buddhism

I'm setting up a blog on the topic of modern or progressive Buddhism:

- looking at Buddhism in the light of modern knowledge, free from over-attachment to ancient dogmas,
- looking at the best ways to integrate Buddhism into Modern/Western societies
- discussing and encouraging an empirical or scientific approach
- Seeing insight and awakening as a living tradition

I'm looking for people to contribute

If we get a bit of momentum I'd like to invite people like Stephen Bachelor and Susan Blackmore to contribute.

Looking forward to hear from you.

Justin

  1. Cool! Welcome aboard! At the moment I'm trying to generate some interest - I've posted on Flapping Mouths and I've invited the author of Mystery of Existence. I think I'll invite the authors of Buddhist Geeks too. I don't think it would be appropriate (or fruitful) to invite contributions from scholars, authors or celebs at this point. Do you have any suggestions?

  4. Hi, Justin,
I have been appreciating your blog for some time now, and will add it to my favorites. I couldn't find a place to submit a comment on your new blog, but I'll say yes here. Please look at my blog, Desert Sky Clouds (http://desertskyclouds.blogspot.com/) to see if you like the pictures and poems.
If you can find him, you might ask Pierre Turlur (Blue Mountain) to contribute. I haven't seen a post from him in a while.
Thank you very much for this effort.
    Gassho and blessings,

  5. Hi Wenders,

Thanks for the interest and feedback. I think any contribution will be fine as long as it's on topic in a general way.

    I love your cloud pictures.

I've spoken to Pierre Turlur before. Seems like a nice fella, but as he told me himself "After all these years of practice I can talk less and less about that stuff. I am rather dull. Too drunk with love, stupid things, music, poetry and women."
