Poll: Why did we get into Zen?
As you can see I've added a poll - 'Why did we get into Zen?'. I'm looking forward to seeing the results of this rigorously-conducted bit of scientific research.

Hello there, I don't know how to send a personal message to you, Justin!
ReplyDeleteJust wanted to say two things. First: awesome blog, I really enjoy it. Second: Where did you find the magnificint photograph in the entry "The Hard Problem of Consciousness". I would like to hang a copy in my apartment.

Hi dawid,
ReplyDeleteGlad you like the blog. Yes the photo is great isn't it? It's by Gregory Colbert here: www.ashesandsnow.org
God, that site is amazing. Thanks.
ReplyDeleteI suspect that some folks (maybe a lot of folks?) get into religious/spiritual practice due to a great emotional trauma that undermines current memes/habits/conditioning.
ReplyDeleteInteresting thought - and it is certainly true in my case - even if the events in question happened some 12 years before I started doing Zen. (about 18 years ago)
